The surrounding bacteria have done a number on P. Munni Selvon, and its numbers have dropped to endangered levels. G. Ethian Tromii evolved a longer range on its acid spray, so it could it it from further our (and ignore its huge hooks), while H. Liurgi Hueon evolved stealth... by slipping -between- the spaces individual molecules inhabit (they fade out and effectively "blink" a short range to surprise their food).
Meanwhile T. Lerug Dorvi is getting hotter and hotter, effectively superheating the water around it and frying any microbes within range, and H. Comei Vargi has evolved almost -extreme- range on its feelers, allowing it to "lasso" things from over a foot away and pull them in to be stung. P. Munni Selvon has evolved greater health and staying power, as well as vicious barbs on the end of its hooks. These barbs are toxic to any bacteria coming within range, so it can stave off extinction for a while longer. A new bacteria, U. Hoifi Noglis, has been attracted to feed on the basic predator cells you have to deal with. These bacteria can alter their acidity in such a way that they neutralize acid on contact, and the energy released by the chemical conversion fuels them. They strike with a stinger in the center of their body, but it's hard for them to get the angle right and they don't have any hairs or tendrils to trigger a reflexive attack. Yet. Meanwhile on your end, you isolate enough acid to finally adapt against it, as well as sprout a few fins for mobility and steering, "skating" in the water. Combined with your weighted tail to serve as a rudder, your agility (and thus ability) to escape has gone a couple of notches upward. This speed is helpful in trying to escape A. Snillix Sorteii, who have -also- adapted fins for movement and are chasing you. They're trying to herd you into T. Lerug Dorvi's heat range, while baiting H. Comei Vargi into lashing at you (while you're resistant to its poison it does trigger your EMP so then it can move in for the kill). So, what do you suggest next? Off we go to 900,000,000 years!
